Lefkada is the fourth in size island in the Ionian Sea in Greece and it is located close to the coast of Aitoloakarnania. The main sources of wealth are tourism, oil production, viticulture and fishing. Near Lefkas are the small islands of Meganissi, Sparta, Scorpios ( the famous island of Onassis ), Arkoudi, Atokos, Kastos and Kalamos. Levkas was named Holy Black (Santa Maura), a name that it was taken by the church of Agia Mavra, built by the Franks in the 13th century in the homonym fortress.
